RUNDLE MALL DANCE COMPLETE! IF WE REACH $2500, I'LL DANCE THE CITY TO BAY!:
http://www.everydayhero.com.au/danceforchange
The world would be a much better place if people danced more often. So on September 10th, I'm going to dance non-stop throughout Rundle Mall from 10:30am till I run out of songs (that you can request!)
Be a spectator or join me in a dance for a song or two.
Even if you can't attend the event, hopefully you can still donate. Click ATTENDING and show your support.
WHAT'S THE CAUSE?
The worst drought in more than half a century has swept its way through the Horn of Africa driving some 12 million people towards starvation.
Which is why I've decided to raise awareness, spread the word and attract donations by dancing up, down and around Rundle Mall on September 10th.
Dance for Change is my aspiration to use dancing in public as a way to raise awareness for a worthy cause. I'm not a dancer so its guaranteed to be hilarious.
At the moment, no cause is more worthy than the famine in East Africa, dubbed The Children's Famine in which hundreds of thousands of men, women and children are suffering in the World's Largest Refugee Camp. The Camp is currently overflowing at approximately 400,000 with disease and malnutrition incredibly prevalent. But it doesn't end there. The drought is affecting the entire region.
From UNICEF: 'Across the region, nearly 11 million people are at risk. Thousands of women and children are fleeing central and southern Somalia every day. The crisis, however, extends well beyond the daily flow of refugees into Kenya and Ethiopia: it is also affecting millions of subsistence farmers and pastoralists in these two countries who are dependent on the rains for their survival.'
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Because I'm a poor student, I have very limited means to donate funds but I know together we can make a difference and do our part. This is a huge moment in history that is not getting the media attention it deserves, so hopefully we can change that. Your donations help with food, vaccinations (which UNICEF delivers directly) along with child protection.
My target is to raise at least $1000 dollars but if all my facebook friends chipped in ten dollars we could raise over $5000!
Update: We've beat our target and are on our way to $2500. If we reach it, I'll dance the City to Bay on Sept 18th.
Spread the word!

THE DANCE
I will be dancing down and around Rundle Mall on September 10th and will be accepting song requests in exchange for donations. Each donation of $10 can make a song request on my Everyday Hero Page.
THE CITY TO BAY
Now the aim is to dance for 12 kilometres in the City to Bay. Think I'm up for it? I'll do it if we reach $2500.
Send me a message if you want to join the dance or think you can assist on the day.
