The evening will begin with an informal conversation between the filmmakers Lee Schneider and Richard Neil of Shelter and John Peterson, Founder and Executive Director of Public Architecture.

This work-in-progress edit of Shelter focuses on reconstruction in Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake. It’s an inspiring look at how a world community of architects and designers join relief workers to create design solutions in the context of community building. They are creating structures as much as they are helping to make communities whole again.

Architectural Film Competition
As part of the festival, the Center for Architecture and Design invites everyone to enter “Architecture Is…” a short film competition. Young or old, architect or student, architecture means something different to each of us. Show your unique perspective on what architecture means to you. All films to be featured on the “Architecture Is” YouTube channel. Recognition and prizes will be announced at the Sept. 28 film screening at 5:30 p.m. at the Main Library. Winning entries by category receive an iPad 2. Entries are due Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. Entry details at: cadsf.org.
