"FEW is the Go-To place for personal and professional learning and connections" and for our first meeting of our 30th birthday year 2011-2012 year we’re honored to host a panel discussion and seminar with Safecast.org.

Radiation a nd safety for ourselves and our families has been on the minds of people all across Japan. Access to accurate information and the background to understand the information out there has become a critical skill in Post 3/11 Japan. FEW is proud to host this informative and timely seminar and we will be inviting other business groups, networking organizations and interested friends to attend this meeting. Our seminar will focus on Radiation and Measurement in Japan. The Safecast team will present an overview of Safecast and what has been done till now:

what and who is Safecast
basics of radiation
how to measure radiation
devices used – mobile and fixed sensors
Radiation maps for Japan
what they we found
crowd sourcing radiation measurements
collaboration with Keio University
what they will be doing next

Following the seminar Safecast will offer a brief hands-on demonstration for interested participants to measure radiation themselves. They will have a wide variety of geiger counters and other measurement equipment available for use. It will be possible to bring your own samples to be measured (please let us know if you will do in advance). You can bring soil samples, food samples or other items.
