Brisket might be the greatest cut of beef in the world. Sure fillet and short ribs get all the glory, but there’s nothing like a brisket to test a chef’s skill. Coaxing deep flavors and silky textures out of this much maligned meat has been a tradition on Jewish sabbath tables and St Patty’s Day celebrations since the dawn of time. Deep down in Texas, BBQ is all about brisket, where hours of slow smoking make for one great piece of meat.
To celebrate Brisket and all of its glory, we’re getting together some of the best Brisketeers out there to throw a party at a favorite local bar: Shotwell’s.
BrisketFest is just what you’d imagine: mounds of brisket, some braised, some smoked, some brined, all piled high for your beef eating pleasure.
Our Brisketeers:
Wise Sons Deli - Nice Jewish Boys make good with their Brisket Pastrami, served on homemade Double Baked Rye.
Good Foods Catering - Dontaye Ball and Family do “Urban BBQ” right, combining his favorite aspects of Texas and Memphis BBQ, and everything comes topped with their house Bacon BBQ Sauce.
Gypsy Kitchen - Formerly of Broken Record and Brunos (now only spoken of in hushed tones) Ryan Ostler and Kat Zacher are coming back with a vengeance to break out some unexpected brisket voodoo.
Order a la carte or go all in and get the Brisketfest Platter which will come with all three, and a vote for the King of Brisketfest.
We’ll also be pouring some special SodaCraft Sodas: Xtra Dry Ginger Ale will be blended with beer for a special “Shotwell’s Shandy” and we’re getting into the smokin’ spirit with Smoked Strawberry Vanilla Bean Sodas.
So come on out to Shotwell’s to celebrate the great cut of beef that is Brisket. It’s going to be a good time.
