Site:Lab is in the final two weeks of preparing the old Junior Achievement building for its unveiling as an ArtPrize venue. As you may know from our postings on Facebook and Twitter, the exhibition is going to be pretty unique. Rather than trying to fill the space with as many entries as possible, curators Paul Amenta and Elona Van Gent have selected only nine pieces – most large-scale and installation based – to occupy the building’s 26,00 square feet.

Unlike Site:Lab’s usual one-night-only projects, ArtPrize involves being open to the public for nineteen days. For a number of reasons, including our location across the street from the new UICA, we are planning for the possibility of our having huge crowds, particularly on weekends.

All this means we are going to need lots and lots of volunteer greeters and crowd controllers. We are hoping you will be one of those volunteers.

Signing up is easy. We have set up an on-line calendar for scheduling at http://sitelab.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/?id=513. If you prefer, you can contact Leigh Ann at cobbleia@gmail.com and she can help get you scheduled. Most positions involve working in teams of two, so you might think about signing up with a friend.

We are having a volunteer preview on Tuesday September 20 at 8:30 p.m. where you can meet the artists (and pick up your limited edition Site:Lab ArtPrize t-shirt). Hope to see you there.
