We're back! This month's Meetup is being held in conjunction with the <a href="
http://www.meetup.com/nosql-nyc/events/33117282/">NoSQL NYC Meetup</a>, and will feature two great presentations on graph databases: an introduction to GoldenOrb by project founder Zach Richardson and a full presentation of Neo4j by Andreas Kollegger.

GoldenOrb is a large-scale graph processing system. Modeled after Google's Pregel, GoldenOrb allows you to perform large batch computations on graph data. In his talk, Zach will provide an overview of the GoldenOrb computational model and the types of problems to which it can be applied.
Neo4J is a high performance open source graph database. Andreas's talk, "The Graph in Your Data - A Neo4j Intro" will introduce the essential concepts of a graph database by taking a tour of real-world uses of Neo4j, where you'll probably recognize snapshots of your own application, exposing the graph in your data. Mix in some code and some diagrams, and you'll leave dreaming up new ideas for your application.

Zach Richardson - President and Co-Founder of Ravel
Zach Richardson spent the last 5 years in the United States Navy as a Gunner's Mate First Class, after completing his BA in Mathematics from Thomas Edison State College. Between 2003 and 2007 he managed 3 work centers with over 22 personnel on the USS Winston S. Churchill, and was responsible for maintaining and operating the Vertical Launching System, 5-inch Gun, and for Force Protection, executing three successful missile intercepts and a successful pre-deployment test launch of the Tomahawk Block E cruise missile.
Between 2007 and 2009, Zach was the Range Operations Manager for Guantanamo Bay, where he was responsible for all operations on 5 shooting ranges, and the small arms qualifications of 100,000+ soldiers, airmen, marines, and sailors. Zach continues to serve in the US Army National Guard.
Zach has programming and management experience in several domains of software development, most recently with many Hadoop subprojects and the Semantic Web. In January 2010 Zach inspired and led a team that won the MIT Linked Data product development competition. Zach is an active member of the Austin Big Data User Group and Semantic Web Austin.
In addition to Zach's role at Ravel, he is the lead developer and architect for the GoldenOrb project.

Andreas Kollegger - Neo4j Creative Engineer
With a career graph traversing from embedded systems engineering at NASA, to compiler design at Xilinx, to medical informatics in Zambia, Andreas appreciates the emergent beauty of systems built from simple ideas. And so now graphs, the simplest possible idea for structuring data without missing the nuance of the real world. As an engineer with the Neo4j open source graph database, Andreas contributes code and creative content.
