Welcome to the official 100 Thousand Poets For Change - KL Facebook event page!
We know it's late, but sticking true to our Malaysian timing, better late than never!
This event is the KL edition of the largest worldwide poetry event this year, and maybe even in history. And KL is proud to be part of that.
Brought to you by Michael Rothenberg & the folks at
www.100tpc.org, with local support from Wakalab, this event hopes to bring all poetry circles & collectives & groups around KL together & showcase the evolution & progress of KL poetry over the past few years, in view to create a more self-sustaining & progressive poetry scene & community in KL.
We know that's a big ask, but the fact that you're reading this means it is not impossible!
We will feature poets from poetry collectives such as Poetry Cafe KL, Poetry Underground, Poet's Passport, The Socialites, Bohemian Cafe & Frinjan. Not just that, we will also showcase closet poets who've never performed or read their stuff in public ever before. And that's just the appetizer. We will also feature poets who have been published, be it on print or online, be it self or publisher. We will also feature published writers as well.
So free yourself up on the 2nd Saturday from now & just kick back enjoy some kick-ass poetry - both the written word & the spoken word.
Believe us when we say - One Poem Can Change The World.
Watch this space for more updates on the line up!

MAIN ORGANIZER
- 100 Thousand Poets For Change (
www.100tpc.org)
Poets in 450 cities representing 95 countries are currently organizing the largest poetry reading in history with over 600 individual events scheduled to take place simultaneously on September 24th to promote environmental, social, and political change.
Poets, writers, artists, and humanitarians will create, perform, educate and demonstrate, in their individual communities, and decide their own specific area of focus for change within the overall framework of peace and sustainability, which founder Michael Rothenberg stated, “…is a major concern worldwide and the guiding principle for this global event.”
Events range from poetry and peace gatherings in strife-torn Kabul and Jalalabad to 20 collective poetic actions in Mexico City where poets, painters, filmmakers and musicians will spread the word of peace and non-violence throughout the city with day long readings and workshops. More examples of events can be easily accessed on the home page of the 100 Thousand Poets for Change website at
www.100TPC.org.
All those involved are hoping, through their actions and events, to seize and redirect the political and social dialogue of the day and turn the narrative of civilization towards peace and sustainability.
Each city organizer and their community has an individual Event Location blog page on the website for posting written material, poetry, artwork, photos, and video to document this global mega-event across national borders.
Immediately following September 24th all documentation on the 100TPC.org website will be preserved by Stanford University in California, which has recognized 100 Thousand Poets for Change as an historical event, the largest poetry reading in history. They will archive the complete contents of the website, 100TPC.org, as part of their digital archiving program LOCKSS.
Founder Michael Rothenberg is a widely known poet, songwriter, editor of the online literary magazine Bigbridge.org and an environmental activist based in Northern California.
