This is a walk that's specially designed for those new to stairways. It covers eight public stairways over 4.5 miles. The walk is designed in three distinct loops, all of which start and end at the Fix Coffee Shop. Each loop starts on the hour (10AM, 11AM, 12PM) and lasts one hour. Each loop is 1.5 miles long.
Here's how it works:
We do a loop, arrive back at the coffee shop one hour later. We pick up new participants and say goodbye to departing ones. You can do any individual loop, all three, or any combination (like skipping the middle loop for an extended rest stop, knowing that we'll be back in an hour and you'll be able to rejoin us.)
Each loop has one "feature" stairway - one that's picturesque, especially challenging, or otherwise interesting.
As beginner-friendly as this is, there are some serious stairs and hills in this walk, along with some of the best views in Los Angeles. The Echo Park neighborhood is the city's most stair-rich, and experienced walkers can consider this a greatest hits package.
