VHX Part II is almost here!
The Venice Harvest Xchange (VHX) is a private community market where locally grown, foraged, and prepared food can be traded, sold and donated. We provide the space for vendors and traders free of charge, but we will happily accept any donations in form of food or money.
There will be lots of tasty edibles that you can trade for or buy -- food from home growers, foragers, dumpster divers, raw chefs and homey cooks, plus PIZZA from a clay wood burning pizza oven. There will also be music and entertainment! Support your local food community - come hungry and bring your own bags to take home your yummy treats!
For legal purposes, all participants and visitors are required to become members of VHX, membership is free!
To help us cover expenses, we ask for a $3 suggested donation for entry to this event, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
The official food Xchange goes from 12-4, but live MUSIC, DJ's, food, drinks, and heaps of FUN will be had throughout the evening. We’ll also have a little and big KID’s corner with painting and arts, so bring the family! With the veggies and baskets bring an INSTRUMENT!!!
AFTER 3 PM IT'S OPEN TO ALL TRADES BESIDES FOODS, WE ARE WELCOMING ALL VENDORS AND TRADERS -
Details and Background:
Thanks to the Food and Flower Freedom Act, it is legal to sell fresh produce and flowers grown in your backyard. However, in order to sell prepared food, it must be made in a certified commercial kitchen, which is an impossible expense for many food producers. So, the Xchange is about helping to get some exposure for local cooks who prepare healthy, whole foods, without the cash for a commercial kitchen, as well as to promote the exchange of goods from backyard gardeners and urban foragers.
You can look forward to swapping for or buying locally harvested vegetables and fruits, dried mushrooms, preserves, and prepared foods like homemade hummus, breads, and treats! A clay and straw wood burning PIZZA oven will be rolling out yummy pizzas all day! Bring your own bags and containers to take your treats home!
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING A VENDOR, , please contact one of the event creators. Also, VOLUNTEERS If you are interested in helping us prepare and during the Xchange, please contact one of the creators! We need your help!
