9th Annual
TURKEY TROT 2011: an Americana Music Feast
Featuring: hot, fresh, locally grown organic Americana
Starring: The Whisky Richards, Windy Hill, The B-Stars, Snap Jackson & The Knock On Wood Players
The 9th annual TURKEY TROT 2011 features Grandma's homemade recipes;
Southern-fried honky-tonk, creamy country swing, sweet old-time bluegrass,
and extra spicy hillbilly-grass. Heads up, Grandma tends to use a lot of
nutmeg and cooks everything with whiskey or moonshine. So plan on
stumbling home with a ringing in your ear, achy feet, but feeling awfully
good.
THE WHISKY RICHARDS (San Francisco) 11pm
The Champagne of Honky-Tonk. The Heart & Soul of Bay Area Country Rock. The Current Kings of Classic Country. The Porkchop of Americana. The Top Chief of California Alt-Country Sound. The No Banjo Bluegrass & Old-Time Band. This band has more monikers than a hen house full of wet chickens.
The Whisky Richard EP #2 is out now and is getting some amazing reviews. "Remember the first time you listened to Hank Williams III and you said to yourself, "damn this guy is f***king awesome! Sounds just like his granddad" or the first time you got drunk and listened to early George Jones and said to yourself, "damn this guy is f***king awesome! Sounds like I'm wasted."? Well, their new stuff is f***king awesome, but sounds nothing like those two country singers."

WINDY HILL (Bay Area) 10pm
Not your typical bluegrass band; the boys of Windy Hill did not grow up in the deep rolling hills of Virginia, nor grow up listening to the Bill Monroe or the Stanley Brothers on an old fashioned AM radio. However, you couldn't tell this from listening to this fabulous band -- they show sincere enthusiasm for traditional bluegrass music. The young, fresh players take on a 70+ year old musical genre and pull it off like no other. When ever they play, they bring it! And look and sound the part -- as if they are playing a 1940s dance hall.
The band's first album, "Let's Go to the Fair" was released in June 2011 and has received praise from the national bluegrass community and is available at THE MUSIC STORE, 66 West Portal, SF or directly from the band.

THE B-STARS (San Francisco) 9pm
cook up a hearty stew of honky-tonk, rockabilly and hillbilly hits for your listening, drinking, and dancing pleasure. With nods to the country & western stars of the late 1940s and 1950s, these sharp-suited jukebox honky-tonkers will be singin’ and hillbilly swingin’ ‘til the break of dawn. Spit shine yer good boots and come ready to dance yer butt off!
Debut album "Behind the Barn with The B-Stars" is out now! Packed full of
almost all original tunes that recall a time when Hank Williams and Lefty
Frizzell were what was pouring out of the ol' radio. It's straight up
honky-tonkin' hillbilly bop, boogie, and swing!

SNAP JACKSON & THE KNOCK ON WOOD PLAYERS (Stockton) 8pm
effortlessly blend Americana, bluegrass, soul, & old-time music to create a unique, fresh, and energetic sound. It's obvious from the moment Snap takes the stage, whether at a night club, theater, or outdoor festival these boys are ready to have a good time, and sure to leave a lasting impression. In fact, they are the only band in bluegrass that come with a guarantee -- you will love their music or your money back.
"A Breathe of Fresh Air" is Snap Jackson's debut release and their tribute
to the rural Americana sound of yesteryear, when the banjo was held high
and often more valuable than the family mule.
