Neo Modernism? - New Territories in Architecture
To mark the end of the Formosa 100 exhibition this year, the Formosa Show will be hosting an architecture talk "Neo Modernism? - New Territories in Architecture".
Aephie Huimi – A Taiwanese/Japanese artist who’s heavily involved in art and film making.
Yaojen Chuang – A Taiwanese architect who has spent the past 12 years living in the UK. His work focuses on both the physical and metaphorical experiences of the body.
In this talk, Yaojen will be presenting his ongoing research projects, including "Miami Transitorium", which exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale last year, as well as his recent collaborations with Taiwanese fashion designer Shaoyen Chen, followed by an informal chat with Aephie, and a final Q and A with the audiences.
The talk aims to bridge the connection between art, design and architecture, and answer the ideas of the “neo modernism” – Yaojen's specific field of research, and the relation between architecture and contemporary art/design. Finally, as Taiwanese architect/artist establishing in the UK, how has one’s cultural identity been altered or enhanced?
The talk is a rare opportunity for the architect and artist from two distinct backgrounds to get together and present their personal work and ideas, which aims to spark a conversation and generate new territories in architecture.
