OCTOBER 4th UPDATE: Location: Anaheim Convention Center Main floor inside the main entrance (Just to the left of the Concierge booth as you enter the convention center) Time: 11:55am Trigger: Someone will drop a bunch of paper. This is your cue to FREEZE! Duration: About a minute or two (Trigger will start picking up papers. This is cue to unfreeze) Remember to freeze in a unique position. Holding your phone, talking with someone, hugging someone, tying your shoes, eating something. something that makes it OBVIOUS your frozen and not just standing there. ALSO remember that once it's over just act as though nothing happened (at least for a few minutes). Meet in section A2 immediately after for lunch if your interested in having a laugh about it with other Freezemobbers! And remember, HAVE FUN!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the SPC11 Freeze Mob!! Now to answer some of your burning (freezing?) questions! What the Hell is a Freeze Mob (Ha Ha.. see what we did there?)? From Wikipedia... A freeze mob is a demonstration that is organized online where people freeze in place in a public area while passers by look on and wonder wtf is happening. Here's a cool example;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo Why are we doing this? Because it's fun?! DUH!!! We're also doing this to exemplify the collaborative nature of the SharePoint community! (but mostly just because it's fun). When are we doing this? We're not 100% sure yet... We want to determine the typical daily traffic flow of the Convention Center during SPC11. It's likely it will be between the last session in the morning and lunch hour sometime in the middle of the week in some high traffic area. We will let you know with a precise time with a lot of advance warning here (we'll also tweet the details - don't worry.. we'll find you). Where is this going to happen? Once we've spent a day attending the conference we'll determine where the best location is and let you all know via email. Don't worry, we'll give you about 24 hours notice. How am I supposed to freeze? How do I know when to freeze? When do I un-freeze? Something animated is preferred. Eating something, conversing with someone, laughing, walking, running, tying your shoes, hugging, KISSING (Ha Ha). We will let you know what the *trigger* to begin freezing is in advance via email. A trigger is simply a physical sign from someone that it's time to freeze. It will be obvious, and we'll let you know what it is in advance. we will remain frozen for about 2 minutes. There will also be a trigger to unfreeze (it is typically when the trigger person unfreezes). Once you've unfrozen, simply carry on doing what you were doing. ACT AS THOUGH NOTHING IS OUT OF THE ORDINARY and vacate the area. Most of us will likely be headed to lunch after this so we can unofficially meet up there to swap freezing stories. (details to follow) What else do I need to know? SPREAD THE WORD! Feel free to invite anyone to this though via Twitter, email, text, etc.... The list of participants is growing quickly, but we'd like to have between 75-150 (or more) join in on the fun. We have people who will record this and share afterward, so if you come down, join in, don't just be a bystander!! :) See you soon (frozen)!! Your AWESOME SPC FreezeMob team.
