What is greater than loud jets doing fly-byes all day? Loud jets and German beer! Dust of your Steins and pull out the old lederhosen because Oktoberfest is here!!!
We are now moving into our 12th year of hosting the world famous California Oktoberfest. This event is held in honor (and to rival) the world's greatest party celebrated in Munich, Germany. In following the tradition, the festivities will include traditional Oktoberfest music, beer tent, bratwursts, pretzels and as much German beer as you can drink. So dust off your Lederhosen, grab your German Mass (preferably a 1-Liter glass, but smaller will do) and make your way to Oktoberfest 2011 - 36E Fort Mason.
To stick with tradition, speeches will commence at 11:45am on the 8th of October, followed by the official tapping of the first kegs at noon (Oâ¬"zapft is). In compliance with strict German beer drinking laws, Oktoberfest will end promptly at 8:00pm, so start early, folks.
What to bring? Anything German: hats, shirts, pants, lederhosen, wandernhosen, shumpfeln, etc. Be sure to bring a beer glass, because we will only be able to supply plastic cups (German beer should be enjoyed out of a 1-Liter Mass, of course). If you dont have a beer Stein we do have a couple extras that we will be selling to help fund the party. As always, donations are greatly appreciated and are an important part of us being able to host this event.
LODGING: If you're coming from out of town, the best places to stay are the motels on Lombard Street. Downtown works, too, but would be a cab ride away.
PARKING: We strongly urge you not to drive to this event. Take a taxi or public transit.
Wilkommen in Oktoberfest, everybody!!

If you have never been to an Oktobefest party please read the following:
1. DRESS UP in your best German attire! Oktobefest girls do not talk to guys wearing Ed Hardy Shirts.
2. Get there as early as possible. Don't be the one confused about people standing on the tables doing the chicken dance while holding a beer mug.
3. If your friends are up for wearing lederhosen or beer wench outfits then bring them along. The more the merrier.
4. Be considerate of the neighbors and Fort Mason in general. We dont want to have to find another venue next year in Orinda.
