Join us in a weekend full of energy, passion, and devotion to build great beautiful things. We will be introducing for the first time ever our new platform, XSTEER, that connects your smartphone with HTML5 games and allows you to create truly meaningful and immersive gaming experiences in a way never possible before. You will be the first developers internationally to use XSTEER in your applications.
XSTEER aims to make video game experiences more meaningful, intuitive and fun by turning your smartphone into a remote controller for web-based games running on your computer. With full accelerometer and gyro support, we're changing the way video games are built. Come help us revolutionalize the industry of web games by building the first demos worldwide using XSTEER.
Bring your team, your brains, your laptops and your iPhone and come build with us your own HTML5 game using our platform; or if you're already a game developer, come and let us help you integrate your existing game with our platform to create a great experience for your users. Prepare for two days full of coding!
We're currently working hard on polishing the XSTEER platform and will publish more details and the SDK with examples very soon so that you can read more about what it is and what you can do with it.
The competition will take place at the CoLab working space in Athens, Greece at Petraki 28, Syntagma. Participation requires you to bring your own laptops and iPhones. You can participate as an individual or as a team. You don't need to be a game developer to participate: Basic HTML/CSS and Javascript knowledge is required, and a lot of energy to have fun. If you know how to use WebGL or HTML5 canvas, all the better; but if you don't, we can help you with it.
We'll start at 10:00 in the morning of Saturday the 15th of October 2011 — write down the date now so that you won't forget it, and don't be late. We'll present to you our platform and what it can do in the morning, and we'll let you code till the evening of the same day as late as you feel like*. The next day we'll get together again at 10:00 and let you finish your projects till the afternoon. There'll be a break for pizza during both days, and we'll select the competition winners after the lunch break on Sunday. We'll be glad to help you with anything you need to build your demo.
The best three demos will be selected by Kamibu and presented to the whole audience.
