The Harbor School Regatta at Governors Island will feature an afternoon of America’s Cup 12 meter & J24 racing as fans cheer on the sailors from luxury spectator boats in New York Harbor, complete with commentary from MSNBC’s Willie Geist. Historic America’s Cup favorites Weatherly, Nefertiti, American Eagle and Intrepid will be in New York Harbor direct from Newport to be part of this amazing event. This charity Regatta will serve as the opening event for New York Classics Week and the final social event of the season on Governors Island. 100% of Regatta proceeds will benefit the students of the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School, the only New York City public high school that provides a rigorous college preparatory education built upon New York’s maritime experience to chart a course of excellence for young New Yorkers. Since 2003, the school has served nearly 1,000 students with a curriculum that is reinforced by unique courses including Aquaculture, Scientific Diving (SCUBA), and Boat-Handling. This exceptional combination helps students understand that they are valuable, contributing members of society, and instills confidence that lasts a lifetime.
