- We gotta get out of this town!
-Oh yeah, and go where? Where are we gonna go?
- I’ll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talking about a little place called…Park City.
Okay, may have messed up that last part but you get the point. You’ve eagerly awaited this email and now the GBAT executive ski trip planning committee has delivered—here are the details for the 2nd Annual McCombs Ski Trip:
The dates are February 9-12. We have cleared this weekend with the program office so we know there are no major events, including recruiting. Everyone can go. If you don’t ski don’t worry—a lot of people plan to just come and enjoy Park City.
We’ve reserved a handful of condos at the Newpark Resort:
http://www.newparkresort.com/. These condos sleep 6 and each have hot tubs on the deck. Here’s what we need from you: reserve a spot in one of the condos by paying a $100 deposit. The deadline for putting down your deposit is the GBAT 80’s themed ski party on Friday, October 21 (details to follow). We can’t guarantee pricing or availability after that date.
Please make checks out to: “Graduate Business Adventure Team” and put them in mailbox 70 and put your info in the Google doc below. If you already know who you'd like to room with, you can add that information to the Google doc. If not, sign up anyway and we can work housing details out over the coming weeks.

Here’s a rough idea of costs:
Flights: about $300 if you book soon. We recommend the 6:53 PM Frontier flight arriving in Salt Lake at 10:57 PM on 2/9; leaving Salt Lake on Sunday at 5:10 PM. If you choose another flight try to get in around the same time so logistics will be easier.
Housing: $150 / person for three nights in a 6-person condo (price changes depending on numbers)
Lift tickets: around $70 / day (working on discounts with our friends at liftopia.com)
Rentals: $20 or so / day (working on discounts)
Transport to and from airport: $30-40 per person roundtrip
Group transport in Park city: $40 each (cabs, group vans, etc.)
Costs above this will likely be about what you would pay to go out for two nights in Austin
We’re shooting a little high on these so there are no surprises and are working on group discounts for lift tickets, rentals, transportation and food. These numbers should come down. We’re also working with the program to get dean’s funding to cover some of our meal costs.
Rough Itinerary:
Thursday: get to the condos around midnight. Advance team will have some food and beers ready.
Friday: up early to get to the mountain. Ski either Park City or the Canyons (10-15 minutes away). Organized après ski party on mountain with food and drink specials. Back to condos. Serious hot tub scene. Get food near condos and prepare for aggressive around-the-world party (every condo has a drink theme). Try to avoid massive hangover on Saturday.
Saturday: Up early and realize you didn’t avoid massive hangover. Rally. Ski whatever mountain we didn’t ski Friday. Same type of après situation. Similarly aggressive hot tub scene. Transport to Main Street where we’ll have a group dinner somewhere. Move to Harry O’s (awesome dance club). Late night scene in aforementioned hot tubs.
Sunday: Nurse hangover at brunch on Main Street. Head to airport in the early afternoon.
Basically, the weekend will be strikingly similar to Squaw Valley circa 1984:

That’s pretty much it, so for now send us your deposit, put your info in the Google doc, book your flight and spread the word.
