TED is a nonprofit organization that began in 1984 as a gathering place for innovators and leaders in the fields of technology, entertainment and design. Twenty-six years later, TED has become a nexus for a global community of individuals who believe in the power of Ideas Worth Spreading.

TEDxRainier is an independently organized TED event, a gathering of thinkers, entrepreneurs, academics, artists, environmentalists and engaged citizens working to design better futures. TEDxRainier is planned for Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the University of Washington, Kane Hall in Seattle and will also be streamed live online.


This year's theme is Gained in Translation: Ideas Crossing Frontiers. We'll be featuring over twenty five speakers whose ideas and extraordinary work span across domains and fuel innovations, deep discussion, connection and insights.
