140Sweets, established fall of 2009, by Anna O’Brien, Joey Pasion M.D. and Sara Wingert – three friends who met on the social media network Twitter – decided to band together to give back to the community using the draw of New York City’s most trendy dessert (the cupcake) and the influence of their extensive online networks. 140Sweets aims to utilize social media outlets and engage every individual’s affection for all things sweet to campaign for various causes via mouth watering social events. Their goal is to show the world that small donations, such as the cost of the cupcake, can add up to big differences in the community.
