Truly a “can’t miss” opportunity: The final Bay Area performance by one of the most inventive and influential companies in history. MCDC performs Nearly 902 (2009), a restaged version of Cunningham’s final work, commissioned for the late choreographer’s 90th birthday. With Cunningham’s trademark geometric beauty, and a composite score by Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, indie-rock legends Sonic Youth, and sound artist Takehisa Kosugi, the evening-length work is a fitting farewell to a paragon of innovation.
