The Overland Park Fire Department is having an open house October 8 to kick off our Fire Safety Week.
In honor of the 2011 theme, "Protect Your Family From Fire," the fire department will be educating you about:
How to best create and practice a home escape plan.
Which smoke alarm is best for your family and how to properly maintain it.
How to safely store cleaning chemicals in your home that you regularly purchase at the grocery store.
What steps can you take in case of a kitchen stove fire.
How to operate and maintain a fire extinguisher.
In addition, other divisions of the Fire Department will be on hand to show equipment used in technical rescue and hazardous material responses. There will also be information on community planning, and preparedness and CPR training. Finally, there will be fire safety movies and mini-safety classes for children and adults as well as snacks for everyone!
Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about your fire department by attending the open house.
