 Sunday\, October 16th\, Noon to 6 p.m.\n
 SPUDS WATERFRONT DINING\, MURRELLS INLET\n
 Free Admission and Open to the Public\n
  \n
 Competition: will begin at approx. 8 a.m. with the contestant set
 up – chefs have until noon to get their chili ready for
 consumption. The event opens to the public at 12 p.m. until 6
 p.m.\n
 \n
 Categories are: Best Overall\, Best Restaurant\, People’s
 Choice\, Most Original\, Best Theme\, Best Use of South Carolina
 Ingredients\, and Hottest Chili.\n
 \n
 Special Competition: This year we will begin the IRON SPOON in
 which previous winners will be invited to compete in a separate
 competition for the first 5 takers – contestants will need to
 be prepared to make a chili with a secret main ingredient they
 will draw for at 8 a.m. A separate panel of judges will determine
 a single winner who will receive a cash prize award of $500.\n
 \n
 Prizes: will be given to all 1st and 2nd place winners in each
 category\, including a $750 cash prize to first place Best
 Overall and $500 cash prize to the Best Restaurant.\n
 \n
 Bands: Danielle Howle\, Sawgrass\, Downtribe\, Octopus Jones\,
 Pur Cult\, Ten Toes Up\n
 \n
 Winners: announcements will be made around 5:30 p.m.\n
 \n
 Tickets: Surfrider will sell tickets with which to purchase chili
 samples for $1.\n
 \n
 Beverages: Available through the bar and New South Brewery\, with
 proceeds from percentage of sales to the Grand Strand Surfrider
 Foundation.\n
 \n
 T-shirts and Promotional Items: we will have a limited number of
 Chilympics and Surfrider shirts for sale\, as well as
 long-sleeved t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts\, and new this
 year\, hats\, visors\, lunch totes\, shopping bags\, travel mugs
 and can coolers\, all made of recycled/recyclable and/or
 biodegradable materials.\n
 \n
 Surfrider Information: a booth with information about the
 Surfrider Foundation\, our upcoming and ongoing projects\,
 programs\, and membership.\n
 \n
 Food Drive: This year we are asking participants and attendees to
 bring a non-perishable or canned food item to support the efforts
 of South Strand Helping Hand.\n
 \n
 Community: Local environmental non-profits\, businesses\, and
 artists to display around the chili competitors and along the
 pier adjacent to the Crazy Sister Marina.\n
 \n
 For kids: Kids’ Area with food\, soft drinks\, face painting\,
 inflatables\, and more!\n
  \n
 All proceeds from the Lip-Rippin’ Chilympics Chili Cook-Off
 will be used for projects of the Grand Strand Surfrider
 Foundation\, an all-volunteer\, 501 c 3 non-profit serving the
 Grand Strand since 1998. All donations are tax-deductible.\n
