Rodney Lanier, the esteemed Charlotte musician-songwriter and leader of Sea Of Cortez, has graced stages at almost every music venue in the Queen City with bands including The Fence Lions, Hard Times Family, Lodestar, gogopilot, Gold Coast and Sunshone Still. As multi-instrumentalist for the North Carolina based alt-country band Jolene in the late 1990s, Lanier toured globally in support of the acclaimed Sire release In The Gloaming. Named Charlotte’s Best Local Multi-Instrumentalist by Creative Loafing multiple times, Lanier is also everyone’s favorite doorman at The Evening Muse in NoDa.

Recently, Lanier was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment that will extend into 2012. A trust has been established to help with living expenses and future medical costs. Oso Grande – A Benefit For Rodney Lanier represents the kick-off event to fund the trust. Local bands & musicians will join together for a special evening featuring the first full reunion of Jolene in over 8 years.

All proceeds from the show, (Ticket Sales, Merchandise Sales & Donations) will go directly to The Rodney Lanier Support Trust. Donations can also be made directly to:
