Chalk this up to some crazy idea (developed when completely sober): Barcade opened their third location this month in Philadelphia. Their other two - in Jersey City and Brooklyn - aren't too far apart. Wouldn't it be cool to go to all three Barcades in a day?
That's what we're doing. We'll leave from Penn Station on Saturday morning to head to Philly, and finish at Barcade Brooklyn on Saturday evening. Thankfully, all three Barcades can be accessed via public transit (although if demand is high enough and it's cheaper than transit, we may charter a bus for the NYC -> Philly .-> Jersey City portion). The full agenda is below:
AGENDA
8:30-9am: Meet at New York Penn Station; purchase joint NJT/SEPTA ticket for 9:15 departure to Trenton/Philadelphia (Get there early to buy your ticket!)
11:45am: Arrive at 30th Street Station Philly; take Market-Frankford Line to Girard (three block walk to Barcade Phily)
12:05pm: Arrive at Barcade Philly! (Lunch available)
2:15pm: Leave Barcade Philly, take Market-Frankford Line to 30th Street Station
2:30pm: Arrive at 30th Street Station Philly; purchase joint NJT/SEPTA ticket for 2:49 departure to Newark Penn Station
5:15pm: Arrive at Newark Penn Station; take PATH to Grove St. (three block walk to Barcade Jersey City
5:45pm: Arrive at Barcade Jersey City! (Dinner available)
7:45pm: Leave Barcade Jersey City; take PATH to 14th St., transfer to L Train to Lorimer St.
8:30pm: Arrive at Barcade Brooklyn!
Don't worry - a resident transit geek will make the transit portion of the trip as painless as possible (although those bench seats on NJ Transit can give you a backache).
Assume about $45 in transit fare for the trip, and whatever you expect to spend on beer and food (beers at all three Barcades are $5-7 each).
This is not a Barcade-sanctioned event; it's merely a bunch of beer lovers doing something completely ridiculous because we can.
Hope you can join us for this adventure!

Update with Nitty-Gritty Details:
We'll be at Penn Station Saturday morning starting at 8:30. Chris will be wearing a bright yellow Barcade t-shirt, waiting across from the NJ Transit ticket windows. If you're running late and can't find us, we're taking the 9:14 train to Trenton.
If you're buying a NJ Transit ticket in advance, remember that you can buy a combo ticket with SEPTA to Philly at any NJT vending machine... just select Philadelphia as your destination. You'll have to buy a one-way; if you want, you can also buy your return ticket from Philly to Newark at Penn Station to save time. And if this all confuses you, don't worry, we can walk you through it!
A few things to bring:
- A Metrocard for PATH - any old Metrocard will do except unlimiteds. $4 will get you the two rides you need on PATH
- Cash for SEPTA subway tokens (2 are $3.10)
- "Roadie" beers for the train, if you want. NJT allows drinking on the train, drink on SEPTA at your own risk. Want to keep your beer cold? Might we suggest canned beer and one of those first-aid ice packs?
- Patience. We are, of course, relying on a total of 5 different forms of public transit tomorrow... anything can go wrong. Hey, that's part of the adventure!
Oh, and for the social media-obsessed, we've decided on a Twitter hashtag for tomorrow: #barcadecrawl
