The Legend Continues...
The annual Kostume Kult - NYC Halloween Parade Float rolls again! With the parade theme being "I of the Beholder" (http://www.halloween-nyc.com/theme.php) our float theme is *Eye Kandy* because, after all, that seems to be our theme every year!
Join Kostume Kult and many, many friends for a rolling party like none other in NYC. For one night, 6th Avenue comes alive with the largest horde of costumers anywhere. Glorious, beautiful and delightfully demented, this parade is a manic melting pot and one of the most creative things there is, anywhere.
The float celebration begins as a pre-parade dance party and then, once the parade lurches forward, we bounce up 6th Avenue powered by DJs Isaiah Martin, Tim 'Journeyman' Fielding and Boris Burning Elf with Emcee Brent Van Dyke who will rip up the parade and create a huge wave of excitement around us all night. *Eye Kandy* is what we will be, with black light and candy colored everything. Whether you are on or around the float -no matter- the action will be non-stop until we park the float and head to the afterparty (see below).
And this year we will be joined by two Burning Man art cars from Overkill - including the "Dirty Owl" and "Badass Bitch" aka SAM (like a Star Wars land cruiser) so, like last year, we bring multi-vehicular Burner awesomeness that will be hard to miss.

TIMES?
Monday, October 31st, ~6pm-10pm... The parade officially starts at 7pm but our party begins around 5 (whenever we are plugged in!) and we should get moving into the parade by 730 or 8pm. Get there early or miss us!
WHERE TO MEET?
The parade goes north on 6th Avenue and stages below Spring Street on 6th Avenue and the surrounding side streets. We have been told the KK float and the two art cars will be staged together on 6th Ave after 6pm. Look for the candy-colored, yellow and purple float! (and before 6pm we will be parked/ building the float on Sullivan Street between Spring and Broome Street).
THINGS TO KNOW
- The Village Halloween Parade begins at 7pm and runs up 6th Avenue from Spring Street to 17th street.
- Costumes Required to be in the parade and on the float where the best costumers are always given carte blanche.
- Be early, it gets insanely crowded and the fun starts before the parade.
- Riding on the float is fun but note the legal capacity is small so we encourage all to circulate amongst the three vehicles and, for the KK float, please take turns and show deference to the uber-costumed! (the floats mantra since 2000!). If we get stopped by the police or parade marshalls we might ask you to get off the float. please do!
- There will be two live broadcasts of the parade by NY1 and WPIX-11. Set your DVRs and tell mom.
- Bring only what you can carry. There is no place for bags and coats on the float.
- No public bathrooms. Plan your liquid intake accordingly. (every year people have to leave the parade and miss the fun because they thought drinking beer was a good idea)
- Please help us keep everyone safe... Moving vehicles, rabid dancing and large costumes create dangers so please help us ranger the situation and keep randoms from climbing onto the float especially over the sides (one year an entire iron banister broke off).
