A NEW TRADITION AT GROUNDWIRE! It is our privilege to work with many amazing organizations working to protect people and the planet. This year, Groundwire will honor the Washington Trails Association with the 2011 Connector Award--Groundwire's Engagement Leadership Award--in recognition of their work using online tools to get people offline, outdoors and connected to nature. KEYNOTE SPEAKER The evening will feature keynote speaker Rue Mapp, founder of Outdoor Afro. Rue works to reconnect African-Americans with natural spaces and will share her thoughts on how organizations can connect to broader audiences, using social media and outdoor recreational participation in culturally relevant and innovative ways. In addition to founding Outdoor Afro, Rue has offered her expertise and insight to both the White House conference on America’s Great Outdoors and Mrs. Obama’s Let’s Move campaign. V.I.P.
