What - DYL: a weekly happy hour called Destroy Your Liver
Who -- EVERYONE (21 and over) is invited.
Where - Lucky 13 is located at 2140 Market Street between Church Street and Sanchez Street. Nearest landmarks: Castro Safeway, Church Street Metro station.
When - Friday, November 11, 2011 (11/11/11!) from 6:30pm to whenever we all stumble home or bail for food (Pro tip: Ike's Place is open until 10pm and there's a 100% off ScoutMob deal going on now. Call ahead to avoid long lines! 3489 16th St. @ Sanchez

Why: In case you're one who needs a good reason to drink at this very cool, reasonably priced (HH: $1 off well drinks and most draft beers until 8pm) bar on a cold Friday evening...
1) In medieval times, numerologists — those who searched for the mystical significance of numbers — believed all numbers had both positive and negative aspects … except for 11. In the words of the 16th century scholar Petrus Bungus, 11 "has no connection with divine things, no ladder reaching up to things above, nor any merit." Stuck between the divine numbers 10 and 12, 11 was pure evil, and represented sinners. On the flip side, some modern-day numerologists have deemed 11/11/11 auspicious, and according to local news sources around the country, an unusual number of couples have planned to marry on the day. This sounds like a perfect DYL @ Lucky 13 set-up to me!!
2) From 11/11/1/11 to the Mayan calendar end December 21, 2012, there will be 1 year, 1 month, 11 days -- another form of 1111. Creepy. Be afraid; be very, very afraid.
3) November 11 this year is Veterans Day, called Armistice Day until 1954, when the holiday was rededicated to be in honor all American military, naval, and Air Force, veterans. Tip a sip to your military friends and family!
Transit directions: Take any Muni Metro train to Church Street. K, L and M trains run to the underground station which is just below the bar. Exit the J and the N as soon as you get out of the tunnel. J drops you at Church and Market 1/2 block east of the bar, N drops you 1 block north of the bar. You can also take the F trolly that runs along Market but that's hella slow. Check out this nifty Muni map:

Driving directions: Please do not drink and drive. We make DYL Muni/BART-able so everyone can get drinks and NOT drive home. Please take advantage of this or take a cab. If you are driving to the event, please use your best judgment. If you have problems or questions, please contact the organizer, Kristina A.
