In 1995, Dr Steve Miley - the director of two emergency departments located on Florida's Atlantic and Gulf coasts - was driving from one ER to the other, and stopped midway in Orlando for a bite to eat at one of the busiest TGIF's in the United States.
He was fascinated by the restaurant's seating software... and wondered if he could use that to manage beds in his ERs. The rest, as they say, is history. Dr Miley founded MedHost.
Hear Patty Rioux - employee number three and its director of marketing for the first 6 years - recount the early days of MedHost, describe the energy of a health tech startup, discuss their two rounds of VC funding, and a bit about the company's acquisition.
Also learn how they:
made B to B sales calls with hospitals
planned to deal with extended sales cycles of 5 to 6 months, and survived when they actually became 12 month cycles
hired early employees, and scaled operations
kept their customers - hospitals - happy
Patty will share 3 things MedHost did very well, and 3 things they could have done better. We hope you join us to hear this exciting story that is definitely relevant to your startup!
