After 3 years of defining their sound and playing endless shows, Serious Business have written their debut album, Kool. Recruiting Karl Kling of Remix Artist Collective as their album co-producer, they spent a year recording the album in his home studio in North East Portland. The album mashes “jump-up–and-dance” style electro with the unabashed snare rolls of hip-hop. The result is cocky and vibrant. It explores the contrast between their identities as self-proclaimed nerds and an eccentric exaggeration of themselves through hip-hop clichés. Kool is as sarcastic as it is genuine and is ultimately about achieving self-acceptance and confidence.
Kool will be released as a free digital download on Futro Records.
A limited run of CDs will be available at the release party.
