A friend of mine did this and I liked the honesty of it so much I am also doing it.
As the holidays go past and I start a new year (and have a birthday) I want to let you know that this is a time I set aside for myself and those on my friend list to consider why we are facebook friends and if it is working for us. It is my way of also trying to create a no harm/no foul time for considering a de-friending if we have grown apart in such a way that the void can not be closed or if we never knew why we friended each other or if we just find that we don't jive any more at all. For me, facebook is not a "purely for networking" thing.
I do not have any intention of ever having thousands of friends on my personal page.... this is a way to enforce that. So, take heart and don't act like I'm being a ass - please. You can certainly think I am, but don't treat me that way. I read someone that people can only maintain a real connection with 450 people.
No worries or cause for concern - I'll be looking mostly at "friends" that I haven't communicated with for a variety of reasons for the past 2 years, and common interests/mutual friend connections. If you find that you are removed from my list, and it pains you, please message me and I'll refriend you so that we can connect better, hopefully.
I hope we remain friends throughout this journey called life ... and not just merely facebook friends>
I am inviting everyone to see what you say.
