“ Hi Christian, so far, I want to do at least 2 days. Sunrise/sunsets, akaka falls or there's another one that might cooperate around the west side of the island (Kirk will kill me for being wrong on the spot here). And I definitely want to get up to the volcanoes one of the days. It's a 3-hour drive, so sunset might be a better plan. You'll need a good set of hiking shoes/boots and a good lamp. The lava can be full of unplanned steps. But it's pretty awesome. The hike can be up to an hour, depending on the flow. I've gone in as little as 15-20 min and been much too close for comfort to the flow itself. I'll be keeping an eye on the weather out there. Glad you'll be there, and it will be great to have you join us. I don't know yet how many people will be coming from the big island yet. Need to find out, because I usually try to bake up a batch of cookies for the trip. I 'always' pack food in the car...just in case. And Kirk seems to know the best burger joints, even when I did not think I was craving meat! ”
