I am conducting an experiment for a class in which I challenge you to eat REAL FOOD for 24 hours on Saturday December 3!! If you are up for the challenge, hit attending- follow the rules- and tell me about your experience! I want to know if you did it, if you broke a rule (it's OKAY if you mess up!) This is my original research for a class project so if you do it I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU throughout your experience!
I will be tweeting throughout MY DAY the things I'm eating and what I'm up to so please follow me if you want to hear some recipe ideas!
Here are the RULES!:
What you CAN eat:
1. WHOLE FOODS that are more a product of nature than a product of industry
2. Lots of FRUITS AND VEGETABLES (it is recommended to shop at local farmer's markets, but not mandatory).
3. Dairy products like milk, unsweetened yogurt, eggs, and cheese
4. 100% whole-wheat and whole-grains (try to find a local bakery for approved sandwich bread!)
5. Seafood (wild caught is the optimal choice over farm-raised)
6. Only locally raised meats such as pork, beef, and chicken (in moderation)
7. Beverages limited to water, milk, ALL NATURAL juices, naturally sweetened coffee and tea, and, of course wine and beer
8. Snacks like dried fruit, seeds, nuts and popcorn
9. All natural sweeteners including honey, 100% maple syrup
10. PAY ATTENTION TO INGREDIENTS!!! If you haven't heard of it, or don't know what it is- you probably shouldn't be eating it :)
What you CANNOT eat:
1. No refined grains such as white flour or white rice (items containing wheat must say WHOLE wheat... not just "wheat")
2. No refined sweeteners such as sugar, any form of corn syrup, cane juice, or the artificial stuff like Splenda
3. Nothing out of a box, can, bag, bottle or package that has MORE THAN 5 INGREDIENTS listed on the label
4. No deep fried foods
5. No "fast foods" --in general be weary of restaurants during your trial!
