He comes from a family with a musical background, most notably his great-grandfather "Red" Edwards, who had appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and the Hadicol Train during the '40s. He was raised in Norfolk, Va., where he decided to learn blues guitar after finding a best of Muddy Waters album.
