Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States of America,
Your political preference is fine with me! Vote Democrat, vote Republican, vote Independent… just DO NOT vote for the incumbent in the Congressional elections of 2012. Do NOT re-elect the people who have repeatedly failed you. By voting all of them out, you send the NEW Congress a warning: “Political and personal agendas will no longer be tolerated. Come together to fix the problems of our nation or don’t plan to return to the House or Senate.”
Each and every member of Congress raised their hand, voluntarily ran for office, and swore to serve the American people. You trusted them to go to Capitol Hill and lead our country toward a brighter future during its darkest hour. Instead, they have refused to work together, they refused to make sound decisions, and they refuse to take responsibility for their part in the continued decline of our nation. Your current Congress has flagrantly failed you at a time when their leadership is needed most!
Our Senators and Representatives need to be held accountable and only YOU have the power to do it! Congress deserves to be "pink slipped"… something that too many Americans have feared and suffered since 2008. In November 2012, vote out any and all incumbents of the current House and Senate. Show them, tell them, make it loud and clear: failure will not be rewarded with re-election!
Now, this means we may lose a handful of good politicians or we may only succeed in replacing current baffoons with new ones. But I firmly believe, no matter how much we increase or decrease the quality of those that make up the new House and Senate, EVERY politician on the Hill will know that failure will no longer be tolerated. Instead, they will be held accountable by the citizens that they vowed to serve.
And I would say to the members of the NEW House and Senate:
1. Put aside your political squabbling, your personal agendas, and bids for power. If you don’t, they will be of no consequence because you will be out on your ear.
2. Our country is in decline. Your first bill should be to significantly reduce your pay, benefit, and retirement plans. Future raises or subsequent decreases should be tied to quantifiable objectives such as a balanced or surplus budget, reduced national debt and unemployment, or a public referendum.
