...for Fun and Profit. We start off with a basic packet capture via tcpdump and quickly ramp up to analyzing and reverse engineering a proprietary network protocol of a live iPhone app. At the end of the talk, we demonstrate complete pwnage of this protocol with a few lines of UNIX shell script-fu.

Difficulty: Intermediate
Things to install: Wireshark (http://www.wireshark.org), tcpdump
(comes preinstalled on MacOS X), netcat
