One of the
doods in town is going to treat us
to a screening of "it's a wonderful life"
for the 3rd year in a row.
I'd say it's almost a tradition!
We'll convene at soybomb around 5ish in our xmas best
(sweaters, dresses, whatever)
and produce some fine cocktails in the kitchen.
and then drink them.
we'll start the flick at about 8ish.
This spirit of this film is very in tune with the current state of cultural upheaval of late.
"Our street vs wall street" kind of spirit.
Frank Capra made a film that is SO leftist at it's heart, and yet was released during the mcarthy era commie-witch-hunts. The film survived though due to Capra stating that the movie was designed to inject some christian spirit into an american culture that was seeming to be getting increasingly secular. Yet when you watch the film, the christian themes are clearly a contrived narrative device. A set-up to enable the alt-reality scenes at the end of the film.
