“Structures From Silence” Opening at the INMAN SQUARE GALLERY
We invite you to view paintings by Chicago-area artist, Jordan Scott
A five-time member of the US International Karate Team and noted Chicago Northshore Sensei, Scott received a degree in religious studies from Indiana University. These sensibilities manifest in his evolving theme of the collective unconscious. Another major influence in his work is how he interprets the unseen world. He is fascinated by the inescapable and endless patterns he sees when breaking the world down into its component parts and is humbled by its interconnectedness. He is a keen observer of the big picture and these works represent the materialization of form as seen through a microscope. He explores these ideas by methodically arranging thousands of canceled postage stamps. Creating a sea of pattern, he earnestly places each stamp. The meditative process that he goes through when creating these pieces directly parallels his conception. Jordan Scott’s show at the Inman Square Gallery will be all-inspiring for viewers as they experience firsthand its perceptive and transformative nature.
Scott’s work has been seen in group and solo exhibitions including exhibiting at Judy Saslow Gallery, Wright Gallery, Art Chicago, Tucker Gallery, Loyola University, Bridge Miami, and Lydon Fine Art.
Mixed Media Paintings made out of Postage Stamps and Resin on Canvas will be shown December 17, 2011-February 1, 2012
Opening reception with the artist is December 17 5:30-8 p.m. All ages welcome.
