On January 12th at 8 pm, The Gaby Gala series will present another exciting night of performance by exceptional musicians at the beautiful Norwood Mansion in Chelsea. There will be three sets, separated by two intermissions.
The evening with begin with the first movement of the Ravel Piano Trio played by Laura Metcalf on cello, Monica Chung on piano and Gabrielle Fink on violin. The trio will then present the first movement of the Brahms Piano Trio in B Major.
In the second set, soulful singer, drummer and mandolin player Noah Solomon will perform a selection of original folk and bluegrass pieces.
The performances will be drawn to a close by the exhilarating Russian-Gypsy duo of Valeriy Zhmud on violin and Vladimir Silantiev on piano.
The Gaby Galas are a series of soiree evenings. They began in the New York City apartment of violinist Gabrielle Fink. Having a passion for chamber music and an inordinately large Upper West Side living room, Gabrielle sought at first to provide a friendly venue for fellow musicians to share their ideas, but soon had to contend with unplanned audiences of over a hundred of her friends, neighbors and fellow musicians. Soon, these evenings included distinguished but varied musical artists. Writers, poets, musicians, business professionals, and academics came together to enjoy wine and world-class live music in a unique and intimate setting unlike any other venue in the city. Realizing both the urgent need for such performance opportunities and difficulty in accommodating ever larger audiences, Gabrielle created Gaby Galas to offer this modern twist on an old-world tradition to locals hungry for such experiences. The Gaby Galas have proven to be a smash success from the start.
"Gaby's Galas bring together a gifted and eclectic group of musicians, and they offer a rare intimacy between the artist and audience that cannot be found in the concert hall."
Charles Wilson, New York Times
