Moneylife Foundation invites you to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary
For two years we've been spreading financial literacy all over India. We recently held our 100th seminar and have grown to include nearly 8000 financially savvy members.
Our 2nd anniversary calls for a very special event.
The 2G Scam and its implications – and the role each of us can play to make a difference!
Our chief guest is Dr Subramanian Swamy: the man who put several powerful ministers and the biggest names in industry in the dock through his 2G spectrum case.
Meet the man who exposed the shady nexus between politicians, bureaucrats, media & lobbyists .
Dr Subramanian Swamy holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University, USA. He is President of the Janata Party and was elected 5 times between 1974 and 1999. He has twice represented the city of Mumbai North East in 1977 and 1980, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in Parliament.
Dr Swamy was a member of the Planning Commission between 1990 and 1991. He was the Union Cabinet Minister for Commerce and of Law & Justice during 1990-91. Between 1994 and 1996, he was "Chairman of the Commission on Labour Standards and International Trade". As a result of his crusade against injustice, he faced several defamation cases. He is known to argue these cases himself, without the agency of lawyers. In October 2004, he, along with other members of the erstwhile Janata Party, established the Rashtriya Swabhiman Manch to oppose the policies of the ruling UPA.
Dr Swamy has taken many legal steps on the 2G Spectrum case, including petitioning the 2G trial court leading to the arrest of former Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi. He has also raised several key questions about corrupt practices in governance. One could speak of him as a one-man army fighting the scourge of corruption.
In fact, he has called the Indian government to re-auction the 2G spectrum. Listening to an articulate and well-informed speaker and thinker like Dr Swamy always motivates you to think. So make sure you register soon!
