The Skinny
San Francisco and New Orleans are bound by a love of music, art, food, architecture and culture. SANFRANOLA is a celebration of the commonalities, connections, and culture of New Orleans and San Francisco. This program is a chance to hear about the rebirth of one of the great American cities. SANFRANOLA is made possible with generous funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration and Entergy. This visit is part of the NOLAbound project, an initiative tasked with promoting the emergence of the creative industries in New Orleans. The events are hosted by GNO, Inc. and produced by The Canary Collective and Dirty Coast.

Our aim is to build a bridge of opportunity between the cities and establish business and industry relationships with New Orleans bringing along our own talented musicians, artists and entrepreneurs when we host these events.

The Music
DJ Brice Nice - Block Party, WWOZ Saturdays 6p - 8p CST

Lagniappe Brass Band is an established brass band in New Orleans,Louisiana dedicated to bringing out the funkiest brass music to the dancing masses. We based our name on the French term, “Lagniappe” which is defined as “something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure.” Mark Twain writes about the word as “a word worth traveling to New Orleans to get.” The Lagniappe Brass Band is here to give you the best brass music – and a little extra.

To complete the experience we are bringing to the Bay Area Jambalaya Girl of Cook Me Somethin’ Mister®. She will cook up some jambalaya and assist in serving up some real southern hospitality to all of our guests.

The Krewe
GNO, Inc. - A regional economic development agency serving the 10-parish Greater New Orleans region. GNO, Inc. serves to coordinate, consolidate, and catalyze economic development initiatives to generate wealth and improve quality of life in Southeast Louisiana.

The Canary Collective - A design and development studio whose projects range from small start-ups, larger foundations, and universities to internal, curated projects of their own making.

Dirty Coast - This team of designers and cultural ambassadors makes it possible to “be a New Orleanian wherever you are” in style. Their products spark conversations of The Big Easy all over the world.

Jambalya Girl - Cook Me Somethin’ Mister Serving countless bowls of Cook Me Somethin’ Mister Jambalaya since she was tall enough to stand next to the cast iron pot!
