The Phi Kappa Psi California Delta Chapter is one of the largest and most popular chapters on the west coast. We pride ourselves on our reputation for academic, philanthropic, and social excellence, and the recognition these qualities have led to. Last spring we were honored to receive the Inter-Fraternity award for Best House on the Row. With over 100 active brothers and 2,000 chapter alumni in the Los Angeles area, Phi Kappa Psi is one of the most tight-knit brotherhoods at USC, and one of the most respected fraternities on the row.
A brief recap of the Fall 2011 semester, and what’s in store for Spring 2012…
In an attempt to aid the nearby community, we held our annual philanthropy, Phi Psi 500. Our fraternity takes pride in socializing for a cause, and raised thousands of dollars with a day party sponsoring The Mary Lind Foundation. The event included water balloon tossing competitions between top sororities and a blow up slip-in-slide on the front lawn, as well as a full size swimming pool in our sand-filled courtyard. An elevated DJ, ice luges, dunk tanks and even a spiked sno-cone machine made this one of fall’s finest afternoons, and we could not be more proud of the cause it benefited.
As USC’s only fraternity to host formals in both the spring and fall semesters, last fall Phi Psi hosted its weekend-long escape to Lake Havasu, AZ. The brothers of Phi Psi, accompanied by their dates, spent the weekend wakeboarding, cliff jumping, venturing on breathtaking booze cruises across the waters of Lake Havasu, and best of all partying on secluded island beaches.
Our biggest event of the year was Frost, our second registered party of the semester featuring a DJ elevated 25 feet atop a glowing light stage, ice bars, and an appearance from Santa Claus himself. Frost was an all white affair, and snow fell from the rooftop on to the party below, which was packed full with people dressed in everything from snow bunny costumes to stormtrooper outfits.
Phi Psi will continue to pack the calendar with mixers this spring, hosting DG, Kappa, Theta or Pi Phi on a weekly basis.
We also look forward to…
Our Vegas Formal where we most recently stayed in The Palm’s Play Boy Suite. We will be hitting the Strip as well as hosting pool parties at our hotel, and renting a nearby mansion to throw our formal banquet and after-party.
Cabo Registered: Featuring hammocks stretching across sand beaches and recreations of Cabo’s Squid Row, Phi Psi brings Cabo back a week after Spring Break with a night of bikini filled dancing that is sure to bring the few memories of Mexico back to life.
Exchanges: Twice a semester we take a sorority to an off campus location for a night of open bars and outrageous costumes. This spring we will hit the town on exchanges with both Kappa and Theta.
Date Dashes: Impromptu date dashes will intermingle with mixers throughout the spring semester. For these events brothers are notified last minute to grab a date and buses take us off campus for anything from karaoke to ice skating.
Brotherhood Events: As one of the strongest brotherhoods at USC we host some of the row’s rowdiest brotherhood events. This will include our annual Super Bowl party, a fraternity wide keg stand competition, the Phi Psi Crawfish Cookout, Active/Alumni Golf Tournament and much more.
Networking: With over 100 members in our California Delta chapter, and thousands of alumni, we have initiated our own network within the Trojan Family. To keep our active members involved with alumni we have created the Phi Psi Mentorship Program, giving our members opportunities to learn from mentors in their desired job markets and gain internship and job opportunities in and after college. Every semester two positions are saved at UBS for Phi Psi interns, and every year brothers are invited to the Phi Kappa Psi business conference in Cabo San Lucas.
And this is just the beginning…
