****EDIT: Statement from Girl Scouts of Colorado has said that Bobby is not longer interested in being a Girl Scout, ergo, you cannot buy directly. However, they have reinforced their inclusivity statement, and I suggest we take this social networking power and use it to support the GSA. Cookie season starts on different dates in different states! You can:
*Donate directly and let them know it is in support of their inclusivity (and according to GSUSA, you can even ear mark it for LGBTQ initiatives within the Girl Scouts)
*Buy cookies from your local scouts and eat them
*Buy cookies from your local scouts and donate them to organizations that support LGBTQ youth (and/or adults), so that way the Girl Scouts get $$ and credit, and local orgs get the benefit of the cookies.****
Original Idea:
Remember a few months ago, there was a hubub about a seven year old in Colorado who wanted to join a Girl Scout troop, and had told their mother, since they were two, that they had felt like a girl. Makes sense, yes? The drama around it was that Bobby Montoya had been assigned "male" at birth, and that made people uncomfortable. Eventually, with the support of GLAAD, the GLBT Center of Colorado and others, the Girl Scouts of Colorado and the USA issued a statement of trans/genderqueer inclusivity, and Bobby joined the local Girl Scout troop.
Then, a few months later, other Girl Scout troops, mostly in the South, disbanded in protest of this inclusive policy. More recently, a Girl Scout posted a youtube video, asking people to boycott Girl Scout cookies, because buying them would show support for open mindedness and inclusivity.
So, Heidi Anderson and I came up with an idea; what if we all bought a kaboodle of GS cookies from Bobby and their troop, showing our support, while allowing them to have the most successful cookie season in Colorado, maybe in the US.

I'm not going to link to the youtube that is pro-boycott, because I don't want to support her. Feel free to search for it yourself.
