Experience Gauguin & Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise and Theaster Gates: The Listening Room during a special evening of performances, talks, dancing and more at this late-night creative explosion.
Event Details
* DJ Supreme La Rock spins global beats, hip hop, soul and more to keep you movin’ all night long.
* Te Fare O Tamatoa presents Tahitian dancing and drumming performances by Te'a rama: a Marquesan haka (a Polynesian tradiional welcome) at 8 pm in Brotman Forum and 10:15 pm in South Hall, additional performances in Plestcheeff Auditorium at 8:30 and 10:30 pm.
* Record Store Listening Party with Maikoiyo Alley-Barnes, Hanna Benn, OC Notes, Christian Science and Mike Wagner in the Arnold Board Room.
* Contribute to an elaborate, cut paper paradise by artist Celeste Cooning.
* Live performance by the eight-piece Big World Breaks ensemble featuring original material and remixed classics; celebrating elements of Soul, Funk, Jazz and Afro-Caribbean music (9 and 11 pm)
* Get down in Theaster Gates: The Listening Room, where DJ Riz spins music from the Dr. Wax record collection and a volunteer archivist records and catalogs the mixes.
* Create a self-portrait or an imagined landscape postcard inspired by Gauguin’s paintings with artists Jeanne Dodds and Elizabeth Humphrey.
* Harpist and poet Monica Schley improvises spoken word, music and vocals in the 4th floor Baroque galleries. 8:45 pm, 9:45 pm, 10:45 pm.

You may enter SAM Remix any time between 7:30 pm and 12:30 am. The time printed on your ticket is for entrance to the Gauguin & Polynesia galleries only. Please allow 10–15 minutes to get from the museum entrance to the galleries. You will need to enter the Gauguin & Polynesia galleries no later than 20 minutes after the time printed on your ticket.
