WHAT: Hundreds of volunteers read out loud a book by a Black author and/or illustrator in elementary school classrooms across San Francisco.
WHEN: Friday, February 24, 2012. Start time is 9:00 or 10:00 am depending on school site. The duration is 30-60 minutes.
WHERE: Elementary schools throughout San Francisco. School assignments are given to you at the brief training.
WHY: Celebrate Black contributions to literature and inspire a love for reading
HOW: Sign up online or via phone 415.749.3700. There is a brief training required. At the training you will learn tips on reading aloud and be assigned to a school site. We provide a list of suggested books by grade level. You can borrow your book from the library or purchase your book and donate it to the class.
WHO: You! Hundreds of volunteers will participate in this event all over San Francisco. Co-sponsored by SFUSD, SF Ed Fund, SF Noir, and Citizen Hope.
