Chandler Rotary 72nd Annual Invitational Track Meet
Benefiting Local Veterans, Desert Cancer Society and Local Arizona Youth Organizations
A History Rich in Tradition…
The Chandler Rotary Invitational Track Meet is the second oldest continuously run invitational meet in Arizona. It was started by the Wickenburg Rotary club in 1941. Eight schools participated in the first year, including Chandler High School. In 1943, the meet was moved to Chandler High School due to travel problems and gas rationing during World War II. Originally the meet was strictly a relay event.
During the past 60 years the meet has grown to include nearly 3000 athletes. In 2011, schools from Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Idaho and British Columbia participated in the two-day event.
Between 2500 and 3000 spectators attend the event in addition to strong media coverage. This year we are also celebrating Chandlers 100th Birthday!
The meet is widely recognized as one of the top competitions of the year. Performances from this meet are typically found in the national and state rankings for the season
Chandler Rotary is made up of local business and professional leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world. It is one of over 32,000 clubs in 200 countries.
