Find yourself needing to explain what you do, but unable to clearly articulate what IA/UX/IxD are?
A lack of clarity surrounding our professions has led to a trust gap. Are we selling snake oil? Or solving problems? Who do we work for? Where do we come into the process? In order to find jobs, fill jobs, and do our jobs well, we must know what we do, why we do it, and how to articulate it. Come to World IA Day Los Angeles to learn more!
We will be examining the communication of UX from three perspectives.
First, Jod Kaftan, Director, Experience Design, will discuss UX in an agency setting. What are the goals and tasks associated with an agency IA?
Next, Weston Thompson, User Experience Lead, will discuss life as an in-house IA.
Finally, Max Greenhut, Manager of Content Strategy and UX Lead, will discuss storytelling as a model for how we present ourselves and our work.
This will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A period.
Before our panel begins we will watch three short presentations from Lou Rosenfeld & Peter Morville (Authors of Information Architecture for the World Wide Web), and Jorge Arango (Thematic Chair for WIAD 2012). There will also be drawings for one copy of Adobe Creative Suite and for one 6-month subscription to ProtoShare Professional Plus, and some swag for all.
Location UCLA (Room TBD) - Feb 11th, 1-4pm.
