NOON Green Apple Books, Clement St. — arrive early and we'll give you FREE chocolate.
12:45 PM Walk to the Haight, via Stanyan St.
1:30 PM Booksmith, plus chocolate at Coco Luxe, Haight St.
2:00 PM Walk to the Castro, via Cole and 17th St.
2:45 PM Books Inc. plus chocolate from Harvest Market, Market St.
3:15 PM Walk down 16th to 16th and Valencia
3:45 PM Adobe Books and Forest Books, 16th. St.
4:15 PM Walk to 20th and Valencia
4:45 PM Borderlands Books and Dog-Eared Books, plus hot chocolate from Borderlands Café.
5:15 PM Walk to 24th and Florida
5:45 PM Modern Times Bookstore, plus chocolate from La Victoria Bakery
More about the bookstore and chocolate crawl: San Francisco is lucky to have so many amazing independent and locally owned bookstores. Our wealth of bookstores are one huge reason why San Francisco has such a strong literary culture. We wanted to take a day to celebrate this amazing resource -- by bringing a ton of our friends on a big hike through the city, where we descend on some bookstores and buy tons of books. While snarfing lots of chocolate.
Costumes and cute outfits are encouraged, but definitely not necessary -- it's Sunday, after all. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking boots.
In case of rain, the Bookstore Crawl may be postponed -- we'll post updates on this Facebook page, and anyone who's RSVPed to this announcement will get an email in case of last-minute changes.
Please please please spread the word about this event! We'll be doing the best to promote this, but we need your help. Please tell your friends and pass this around. We'd like to see a big turnout of book lovers traipsing across the city and visiting some of our best local bookstores.
What if we've left out your favorite bookstore? Sorry if that's the case. We spent hours trying to come up with a feasible route that hit as many great bookstores as possible. If this event is a success, we'd like to do it again, and next time hit City Lights and several other great local stores. So if you'd like to see this event happen again -- possibly even regularly -- please invite your friends!
