DATE / TIME Tuesday February 14th, 2012 8:00am-8:30am Breakfast8:30am-9:00am Anil's Presentation9:00am-9:30am Discuss, Q&A and NetworkingSPEAKER We've heard so much about the power of social networks and seen their rise as a political force, which can influence legal debates on our country. But what if the way big networks function is fundamentally different than Facebook and Twitter make it appear? This is the topic that our February #Rethink speaker, Anil Dash will be discussing at Grind on Tuesday, February 14th. Anil Dash is an entrepreneur, technologist and writer acknolwedged as a "blogging pioneer" by the New Yorker for having started his site Dashes.com in 1999 as one of the earliest and most influential blogs on the Internet. Today his work focuses on applying the pioneering techniques and technologies of the startup world in order to transform major institutions in government, media and culture. In 2009, Anil founded Expert Labs, a non-profit, non-partisan initiative which helps regular people participate in the decisions that governments make, by empowering them to connect policy makers directly through social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Seating is limited, so sign up early! ABOUT #RETHINK#Rethink is a free monthly morning speaker series for free radicals.
