RAPP and RAPPATHON participants present the output of the hackathon to a group audience at Social Media Week and discuss the experience we had collaborating and the output/ideas.
OVERVIEW:
Hackathon hosted @RAPP with 6+ teams comprised of 1 UX designer and 1 engineer
RAPPATHON THE EVENT @RAPP:
We will brief teams to create web apps that effect change. Examples would include, but not limited to the following areas:
• Eliminating barriers to stimulate adoption of alternative forms of transportation such as riding bicycles
• Improve early development and education for new parents and young kids
• Utility to improve quality of life of retired people in urban areas
• Connecting skills to jobs through people’s social network APIs
• Reinventing fund raising and volunteering through social networks
RAPPATHON collaboration format:
Each team will pitch ideas to the group after the ice-breaker. We will select 6 ideas based on group voting.
Here’s where collaboration really comes in to play:
once we have picked the 6 ideas we are moving forward with, the teams will move amongst 6 different stations to build upon each other’s ideas. It’s a musical chairs type of hackathon, like drawing an exquisite corpse where everyone draws one line each and passes to the next person. Our teams move from station to station every 3 hours to pick up where the last team left off. The teams have to build off of each other’s work for the idea to come to life.
