SUMMARY:World Big Bang Day
DESCRIPTION:This event has nothing to do with the TV series &quot\;The Big
 Bang Theory&quot\;.\n
This event was inspired by the thoughts of a 7 year old girl from
 Athy\, Ireland\, but is relevant to everyone\, everywhere.\n
This events aim is to gather half a million attendee&#039\;s to
urge the relevant world organisations to name a day\, preferably
the first day of spring or the eve of the first day of spring\,
 &quot\;World Big Bang Day&quot\;.\n
We are celebrating the event that set everything in motion to
 give birth to planet earth.\n
 \n
My daughter\, who is 7\, is being brought up as a catholic. I am
atheist\, but I cant complain about her Christian upbringing as
I\, as a Christian at the time\, and her mother who is still a
Christian\, willingly baptised her and actively sought that
spiritual way of life for her. Who am I to insist on changing her
life just because I see things different now. These are my
wife&#039\;s wishes and I respect and except them. When she is
older I will explain to her my beliefs and she will make up her
 own mind.\n
However\, I do try to open her mind to the vastness of the cosmos
and to think for herself. We watch programs like Mystery Hunters
and BBC science &amp\; learning stuff together so she is very
 open minded for her age.\n
  \n
On the 31st of January\, whilst walking home from school she
asked me some questions. Her main query was\, what is space made
of. She knows about comets\, planets etc etc but was confused as
to the ingredients of space itself. You know\, I wasn&#039\;t
sure what to say. I said\, because I think its right but not
sure\, that space was made of nothing. It was a vacuum of
emptiness that everything floats around in.\n
This brought us to where did it come from so I tried to explain
about the big bang. Of course I had to say it was gods doing and
he just clicked his fingers and the big bang happened. So when
did this all happen was next. I&#039\;m not sure if a child
grasps the concept of a million years\, let alone 14 billion
years because she then asked me what month of the year was it
 when it happened.....lol.\n
I\, as best as I could\, explained that it was so long ago\,
before time itself\, 8 billion years before the earth formed and
there was no months or seasons. She was getting frustrated now
and sighed\, &quot\;So when do we celebrate it\, you know like
Christmas or St. Patrick&#039\;s day&quot\;? I told her we
don&#039\;t celebrate it. We have no idea of the time of year it
happened and never celebrated it.... ever.\n
Well that was the most stupidest thing she ever heard. She is
convinced that Humans should celebrate such a huge occasion and
even suggested tomorrow\, the 1st of February\, or 1st day of
 Spring\, become that day.\n
I was gob smacked as to her arrival at this conclusion\,but you
know\, she&#039\;s right. We should celebrate the dawn of
everything we know exists\, and what better date to do so than
the first day of spring or even the eve of the first day of
 spring.\n
 \n
Children have the most inquiring minds and sometimes their
statements have more sense and clarity than all those from all
the politicians and people of influence throughout the whole
 world.\n
 \n
Since this conversation with my daughter I have created a
Facebook event with the intention of gathering 500\,000 attenders
before march of 2013. If/when this number is reached I will
approach as many astrological\, atheist\, physics\, etc etc
societies as I can\, with the aim of renaming either\, the first
day of spring or the eve of the first day of spring\, Big Bang
 Day.\n
 \n
Irrelevant of whether you have religious views or not\, I think\,
though of course influenced by my daughters mind\, that BBD
should be marked in the Human calender. The Big Bang is the
precursor to everything we knows exists\, from the stars you see
at night\, to the sand that trickles from you hand.\n
 \n
In these troubling days we live in\, humans as a species\, need a
flag that we can all proudly stand under together as one species
in solidarity and recognise that we all come from the same
 building blocks. \n
 \n
The body of a new born baby is as old as the cosmos. The form is
new and unique but the materials are 13.7 billion years old\,
processed by nuclear fission in stars\, fashioned by
electromagnetism. Cold words for amazing processes.... And that
baby was you.... Is you. Your amazing. Not only alive\, but with
a mind. What fool would swap this for every winning lottery
ticket ever drawn. - philhellene (youtube)\n
 \n
Lastly\, I would also like to add that this event has no
political\, religious\, non-religious agenda and everyone one is
welcome irrelevant of race\, creed and colour. I&#039\;m just
 doing this for my daughter.\n
 \n
If you&#039\;d like to contribute to this event\, just click
attending and invite as many folk as you can. 500\,000 is a big
number and we depend on your help.\n
 \n
Thanks in advance and Happy Big Bang day of course:)\n

&quot\;I stepped out of a Supernova\, And maybe I&#039\;ve lived
this life a million times over\, But whatever your beliefs\,
Whatever your name\, There is only one truth: We are all the
 same. Whatever your colour\, Black\, green or blue\, It&#039\;s
time we celebrated\, Just being here\; me and you. So\, come on
 over\, Join the gang\, Let&#039\;s all come together\,
Let&#039\;s hear it for the Big Bang!!!&quot\; -Christabel
