Hello Friends and Family,
Alana and I have been volunteering with a new non-profit located in San Francisco called SFSmiles, " a charity that supports charities."
SFSmiles also teams up with Project Insight (a program for visually and hearing impaired adults) to make sandwiches and bag lunches for homeless people. Alana and I have also been helping make sandwiches for the homeless every Wednesday at the Sandwiches & Smiles events. Every week they make about 350 sandwiches and then pass them out to the homeless in many neighborhoods throughout San Francisco.
We are lucky that bread is donated every week by Entenmann's-Oroweat Bakery Outlet, but SFSmiles has to pay for the Peanut Butter and Jelly. SFSmiles is run 100% by volunteers and they have a very small budget. Sometimes the Sandwiches & Smiles events have to be cancelled because SFSmiles is short on cash. This is where we need your help! While it is expensive for SFSmiles to buy enough PB&J every week to make 350+ sandwiches, it is cheap and easy for individuals - like yourselves! - to donate a jar or two. Together, we can help feed hundreds, maybe thousands of hungry, homeless people.
On Sunday, March 4th, we will be having a PB&J collection drive at our home! Please stop by with a jar or two or ten!
Also - if you have bumper stickers, please bring them and place them somewhere on the SFSmiles Sticker Mobile. We will have a contest to see who can guess how many stickers are on the Sticker Mobile. The closest guess wins a great prize!
